All what I wanna say is that you are nuts there in JBL.. how it was possible to produce such a speaker with no volume control? How I suppose to contol volume is say I have connected to my vinyl player?Report as inappropriate

Literally everything about this speaker is great aside from the charge, it says on here that it lasts for twelve hours but that definitely is not true at least not with mine. From the time I unboxed it, it takes over eight hours to charge and doesnt even last five hours even with the lights all the way down, maybe with the light effects off it lasts twelve hours but the whole point of this speaker is the lights so thats pretty contradictory and useless. Like I said everything aside from the charge is great, great sound quality etc, maybe something is just wrong with mine but like I said its been the same since the minute I unboxed it.Report as inappropriate

Thanks for your feedback. Our JBL Pulse 5 charging time is 4 hours, If it takes 8 hours to charge your speaker, the charger may not be powerful enough to power the unit and charge the battery. Check the adapter and make sure that the rating is 5V, at least 3A or higher. Please know the published up-to-playtime is the maximum battery time you will get when listening at background levels. As you turn up the volume, the playtime will be reduced, much like a phone battery when you brighten the screen. The same goes for source material. Music with more bass will also reduce playtime. If the battery is giving less than 60% of the published up-to-playtime, the battery may be losing its capacity. You may contact our customer support for further assistance.

It’s not perfect but it is a fun and great speaker. I have an older JBL Pulse 2 that is not holding a charge like it use to, so I decided to upgrade to the Pulse 5. I like the 360-degree light show and all of the options to modify the light show are really cool. The speaker itself is about 30% bigger than my old Pulse speaker – so it isn’t something I would pack in luggage for an airline trip/vacation, but I do like to take it up to the cabin or bring it into the backyard to play music while in the hot tub or while barbequing. The music that comes from it is great and the ability to control the bass, mids, and highs is a great feature. I also like that you can pair up multiple Pulse 5 speakers and play them in stereo while having an outdoor light show. Also, the APP that controls the speaker is very easy to use.So why isn’t the speaker perfect – because there is no external volume control; you can’t just grab the speaker and raise or lower the volume.
